Encroachments cleared
Municipal officials cleared the encroachments on the platforms at the new bus stand here on Friday.
The
encroachments, among other things, included advertisement hoardings,
tea-stalls, snack stalls and cashew merchants on the platform, hindering
the free movement of passengers.
“As these shops are
located close to the bus-bays, passengers find it very difficult to
walk through the encroachments,” say the municipal sources.
Led by J. Subramanian, Municipal Engineer, the officials cleared the encroachments.
They warned the traders of severe action in case of recurrence of the problem.
Sources said that a space of two metres in length and one metre in width had been encroached.
