City mayor M Majid Hussain has ordered dismantling of encroachments
and plastic factories from Hassan Nagar and Tata Nagar without heeding
any sort of interference, political or otherwise.
At a standing
committee meeting here on Thursday, he directed additional commissioner
(H&S) L Vandan Kumar to organise a 10-day special drive of debris
removal before Bonalu and Ramzan festivals and to produce feasibility
certificate of old sweeping machines. There are several complaints from
standing committee members that the old sweeping machines are in bad
condition. The Mayor directed officials to keep the machines in good
shape.
The mayor directed additional commissioner (planning),
Ronald Ross, to immediately shuffle the chain men who have been working
for a long time in their present postings.
Members of the Standing
Committee, which met here on Thursday, were unanimous in their opinion
that chain men were resorting to corrupt practices and were harassing
people.
