New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has decided to replace all existing bulbs and lamps across various municipal buildings with energy-efficient T-5 lamps and CFL lights.
The decision has been taken in accordance with the Energy Conservation Act (2001), MCD standing committee chairperson R K Singhal said. The civic body will take up the project in two phases at a cost of Rs 2.6 crore.
It had opened bids for the project earlier last month and has zeroed down on two private companies, Havells India Ltd and Crompton Greaves Ltd to implement the project.
While Havells India will take up the work in the Civil lines zone and Paharganj zone, C&G will implement the project in other municipal zones — Shahdara, Central, City, South, West, Narela, Rohini and Karol Bagh.
The two private companies will look after the supply and installation of the new energy-efficient lamps.
