An eviction drive by the Pudukottai municipality on Wednesday, fetched it a tax revenue of Rs. four lakh.
A group of traders on East second main street had declined to remit the tax to the municipality.
Some of them had encroached upon the municipal land and the eviction operation resulted in the traders remitting the tax.
“We netted about Rs. four lakh shortly after a few encroachments were cleared on one of the shops,” say municipal authorities.
The municipality would continue the drive, sources said appealing to traders to remit the tax without default.
