Excellence award to UAD DeptStaff Reporter | Bhopal
The Urban Administration and Development (UAD) Department of Madhya Pradesh has got an award for excellence from Central Government for better implementation of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) project in the State.
UAD Minister Babulal Gaur received this award from Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee at a function held in New Delhi on December 3. The Minister of State for UAD Manohar Untwal also remained present on the occasion, apart from Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur and other senior officials of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and UAD.
Notably, the award was under two categories including, better implementation of the JNNURM project at the State level and at the city level. MP has been chosen for the State level category.
The number of steps taken by the State Government for the betterment of urban poor included, implementing right to land related law, reserving plots for EWS and LIG categories in housing township and waving off the stamp duty.
Further, a provision has also been made of keeping 25 per cent of the total budget amount of municipal bodies reserved for coming up with better services to population coming under urban poor category.
Andhra Pradesh (AP) has also been awarded in the same category, apart from MP.
