Fast launched on civic problems

VIZIANAGARAM: Under the aegis of Pattana Poura Samkshema Sangham (PPSS), various mass organisations on Wednesday launched an indefinite hunger strike at the Tehsildar’s Office demanding that the government solve their problems, including house-sites, ration cards, pending ‘Indiramma’ bills, old age and widow pensions. Expressing solidarity with the organisations, State CPI (M) secretariat member Y. Venkateswara Rao said that the ruling party was only treating the poor as their vote banks and never bothered to solve their problems. He said that those who were identified eligible for house-site pattas four years ago were not given possession of the land so far. The ruling party was cheating them in the name of launching various welfare schemes. He said that their problems could only be solved through agitations. Earlier, the mass organisations took out a rally from the Municipal Office to the Tehsildar’s Office. T.V. Ramana (CITU), M. Durga Rao (Rajaka Vruthidharula Sangham), Reddi Sankara Rao (PPSS) participated.
