Filing of nominations for civic polls begins
VASCO: With the filing of nominations for the upcoming municipal elections commencing on Monday, some towns in Goa saw candidates announce their intention to contest the polls before the respective deputy collectors.
In Mormugao, Sparsha Chodankar (ward No. 4, women), John D’Souza (ward No. 11, open), Sangeeta Raut (ward No. 13, women) and Ramkrishna Jaggal (ward No. 17) filed their nominations. Revenue minister Jose Philip D’Souza is expected to announce his panel soon.
In Canacona, Ganaba Naik Gaonkar (ward No. 8) and Ramakant Naik Gaonkar (ward No. 5) filed their nominations. In Bicholim, Manasi Manohar Shirodkar (ward No. 10, women OBC) was the only one to file her nomination
