Five more villages likely in BMC fold
BHUBANESWAR: At least five revenue villages on the city outskirts have been proposed to be included in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
Patrapara, Bhagabanpur, Subudhipur, Sankarpur and Paikarapur were chosen for inclusion in BMC jurisdiction. The municipal corporation which approved the inclusion is waiting for a formal gazette notification by the Government. The total population, as per 2001 Census, in these revenue villages will be over 7,000. In fact, Sankarpur is uninhabited.
Once these villages are under BMC’s jurisdiction, the corporation would be in a position to extend civic amenities to the newly-added areas from its own sources.
Three of the villages come under Khandagiri police limits while two are under Chandaka.
