Flex boards scream names of property tax defaulters
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation erected flex boards
mentioning the names of top property tax defaulters of circle 8 and 9 at
prime locations in the twin cities here Thursday.
Names of the
defaulters, along with their property tax index number (PTIN), house
number, locality name and the outstanding amount, have been displayed at
various public places.
Even government departments, such as Andhra Pradesh tourism, found a place in the list.
Offials
warned the defaulters and said their movable properties would be
attached as per the provisions of the corporation act if they failed to
pay the property tax before March 31.
Earlier, the civic body
officials had listed out the names of top defaulters on its website, but
withdrew the list within few days following pressure, apparently from
influential people.
The GHMC is contemplating putting up similar flex boards in other circles in the next few days.
