Chandigarh: Members of Federation of Sectors Associations Chandigarh (FOSWAC) in a meeting on Sunday stressed that the Administration and Municipal Corporation should set their priorities right. The members discussed that rather than spending crores on making new luxurious parks, sprucing up the Sukhna Lake and installing fountains, priority should be given to ensuring that basic amenities are in place. The members demanded that there should be improvement in public transportation system, check on encroachment on public land, proper management of community centres and checking menace of paying guests. They also demanded that infrastructure like dispensaries, bus queue shelters, post offices, e-sampark centres, etc be provided, especially in the southern sectors.
The members expressed concern about the multi-storey housing project at Kansal stating that the project would put burden on the infrastructure in the city and may hamper the original concept of the city. It was felt that the ecology, environment and transport among other things in the city would be hampered.
The members appreciated the drive against the unhygienic eatables that was held during the festival season. They expressed hope that the assurances given by the police personnel during police week celebrations including increase in patrolling, checking crime rate, etc would be fulfilled.
