Foundation laid for Tolichowki flyover, widening of roads
Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy laid foundation stones for three
road widening works and as well as construction of a flyover at
Tolichowki junction here on Saturday in Greater Hyderabad limits. The
estimated cost of these four projects is at Rs 153.28 crore.
As
part of his whirlwind day-long programme, the chief minister arrived at
Botanical garden junction, Kondapur where he laid a foundation stone for
road widening works from botanical garden to old Bombay highway via
Masjid Banda village at an estimated cost of `35 crore . The length of
the road to be widened is 3.8 KM and the road be widened from its
present width of 7.5 to 13 meters to 36.5 meters. The six lane divided
road will have 2 meter cycle and 3 meter footpath cum drain. The road
will form a major link between Hi-tech city to old Bombay road which
will ease out the traffic on Kondapur main road. The GHMC has aims to
complete the project within 24 months starting from Saturday.
Later,
the chief minister drove down to Tolichowki junction where he laid a
foundation stone flyover at a cost of Rs 45.90 crore and the length of
the flyover is 650 meters. With the construction of the flyover the
traffic congestion will be eased out from Mehdipatnam to Gachibowli and
Hi-tech city and vice versa besides it also reduces the time of the
travel between these places. The six lane fly-over was also proposed to
develop as expressway in future. The GHMC set a goal to complete the
project within 18 months.
At the same place, the chief minister
also laid the foundation stone for widening of the road from Tolichowki
junction to Gachibowli for a stretch of 7.45 KM at an estimated cost of
Rs 43.48 crore. The six lane divided carriageway will have 2.5 meter
wide cycle track and 3.3 meter wide footpath cum drain on either side of
the road. The GHMC aims to complete the project within 24 months.
The
chief minister later drove down to Ram Singh Pura, Ganesh Ghat where he
laid down a foundation stone for widening of a road from Nandanavanam
(Moghal Ka Nala) to Purnapul. The estimated cost of the 3.43 KM length
project is Rs 29 crore. The proposed road will form a major link from
old city to airport. Further, the existing roads at Purnapul junction
i.e Karwan and Jiyaguda roads have already saturated in terms of traffic
volume passing through the roads and also the widening of the roads
will not possible be on these roads because of existence of religious
structures.
