Pune: NCP MP Supriya Sule on Monday asked the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to fulfill its commitments on development in the villages of Phusungi and Uruli Devachi, which have been suffering for long due to dumping of garbage generated by the city.“The PMC had made various commitments to carry out development of the village and they have to be completed despite the civic body stopping open dumping of garbage,” she said after holding a meeting with mayor Mohansingh Rajpal and municipal commissioner Mahesh Zagade.
Sule said she was happy with the development work being carried out by PMC in the two villages but said that they have not decided on a time-bound program to complete the work.
The two villages being part of the parlaimentary constituency represented by her in Lok Sabha, the NCP leader said she would continue to track the development work in these villages. The water issue of Warje is almost resolved and only plan of a garden on forest land is to be completed, she added
On the merger of villages within the PMC’s jurisdiction, Sule said that some people of the two villages have expressed a desire to be part of the civic body while some are opposed to it. ” 80 per cent of the villagers are in favour of the merger while the remaining are yet to take a decision,” she said.
Sule refused to speak on the controversy over the stake of NCP chief Sharad Pawar and her in the failed bid for a team in Indian Premiere League.
