Getting full time MNA a welcome sign for MCDPNS | Dehradun
It’s a comeback for Sushil Kumar Sharma as Mukhya Nagar Adhikari (MNA) in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun. He has replaced Indu Dhar Baurai, who was handling the MNA office in addition to holding the charge of the District Chief Development Officer.
Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli, who issued instructions for facilitating the effective execution of various works related to public health, including civic sanitation and checking food adulteration, has also expressed hope that the appointment of a full time MNA will have a positive effect on the different works undertaken by the MCD.
It is pertinent to mention here that the absence of a full time MNA has negatively affected the execution of different works in the MCD including civic sanitation, development works and removal of encroachments and unauthorised advertisement hoardings.
Moreover, previous MNA Baurai and the Mayor shared less than cordial relations and as a result the Mayor then felt that the State Government had handicapped the MCD.
The appointment of SK Sharma, who had already worked as the MNA during 2008-09, is expected to exert a positive effect on the execution of various works in the MCD, especially since Sharma has not yet had any communication problems with the Mayor, councillors or members of the public who routinely visit his office for action in different issues.
After assuming charge of the office of MNA, Sharma acknowledged the need for increased stress on effective execution of construction works and facilitation of civic sanitation in the town.
Moreover, in view of Deepawali, the MCD officials, on the directions of the Mayor, will start a food sampling drive from October 26 to check food adulteration.
The Mayor asked them to take necessary action to beautify the Gandhi Park on PPP mode. Moreover 20 new municipal garbage containers will be placed at various locations across the town. Chamoli also ordered purchase of two vehicles for catching stray cattle and dogs.
The chances for effective implementation of these directions are stronger because of the appointment of a full time MNA.
