GHMC bags Civic Management Award

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received the award for citizen services under National Tourism Awards.
GHMC
mayor M Majid Hussain and GHMC commissioner, M T Krishna Babu received
the award from President Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi Monday.
Addressing
the media in New Delhi, mayor, along with commissioner MT Krishna Babu
said the GHMC was striving hard to make the city a best place to live
in.
“Receiving best award for civic management of a tourist
destination in India from the President is a memorable experience and
citizens of Hyderabad share this prestigious award,” he said.
He further added that the GHMC had a good combination of elected representatives and officials due to which they won the award.
GHMC
submitted an application for National Tourism Awards 2011-2012 in F(X)
category (Civic Management of a Tourist Destination in India), for
overall cleanliness of the tourist destination, which includes cleaning
roads and public places, integrated garbage collection and disposal
mechanism, public-private partnership and community involvement.
The
GHMC submitted the above data to the national tourism department about
the activities. Based on the above information, the tourism department
has awarded GHMC for its best citizen services under the category of
civic management of a tourist destination in India.
