GHMC begins demolishing ex-Kadapa Mayor’s building
Following the directions of the Andhra Pradesh High
Court, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Monday took
up demolition of a building of former Mayor of Kadapa, Ravindranath
Reddy, at Road No. 5, Jubilee Hills.
Mr. Reddy is also the brother-in-law of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
According
to GHMC officials, the directions were given on Friday treating the
building as unauthorised, following which the demolition was taken up at
the ground floor plus structure, with police protection today.
“There
was a title dispute of this property in the court and on receiving the
demolition order, our staff partially demolished three slabs today,”
said an official.
The exercise would continue
tomorrow morning also to demolish the columns and beams of the property
that was built on some 350 square yards, he said.
