GHMC, BIE officials caught taking bribe
HYDERABAD: Three government officials were trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths in various parts of the state today for accepting bribe. Two of the officials caught taking bribe were employees of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Board of Intermediate Education (BIE).The GHMC sanitary jawan in the office of the deputy municipal commissioner, Rajendranagar, K Gandaiah, was trapped by the ACB sleuths when he took Rs 5,000 as bribe from a person to process the sanitary contract bill pertaining to Jai Santoshi Matha Dwcra group of Budwel village in Rajendranagar mandal.
Meanwhile, a senior assistant in the Board of Intermediate Education, Nampally, P Narasimha Reddy, was caught red-handed by the ACB sleuths at his office when he took Rs 5,000 bribe from a person to process a file and submit it to the higher officials. The file pertains to the change of name and address of a college located at Ramanthapur.
The two officials would be arrested and produced before a special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad, an official release said. In Krishna district, the village revenue officer of Rangapuram of Reddygudem mandal was trapped by the ACB sleuths when he took a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a person to process the latter’s application for issue of pattedar pass books.
Meanwhile, the ACB sleuths conducted a surprise check on the sub-registrar office at Rajahmundry and unearthed Rs 1.25 lakh unaccounted money.
The check was conducted today afternoon and Rs 51,000 was found with Md Shajahan, a junior assistant in the SRO. Apart from this, the ACB sleuths seized Rs 60,000 from a pan shop adjacent to the SRO. The amount was collected by the SRO staff and kept there temporarily, the release said.
Some cash was also recovered on the office premises which was thrown away by the staff after the ACB conducted the surprise check.
ACB officials also found seven private persons, who were acting as agents, illegally operating inside the SRO and they were caught with documents and Rs 14,400 unaccounted money recovered from them.
