GHMC offers to check overflowing sewage
The GHMC Commissioner, M.T. Krishna Babu, has offered to
pick up the cost of improving the sewer lines in case of a major work
to prevent perennial overflow of sewage on the roads in various parts of
the twin cities.
Continuing his daily inspection
tours on the road stretches identified for developed for the Conference
of Parties (COP) international bio-diversity summit on Wednesday, Mr.
Krishna Babu once again noticed overflowing sewage on the roads at
Erramanzil, S.R. Nagar, Ravindra and several other places.
Even
while directing his engineers to keep the Water Board informed about
the leaks, he said that if the work necessitated a bigger intervention,
the municipal corporation would provide funds.
Irked with engineers
An
underground stormwater drain should be taken up on
Erramanzil-Punjagutta road, he said. The Commissioner was irked with the
engineers over the poor maintenance of footpaths, road repairs and
water stagnations. He was informed that work for laying 4.4 km footpath
on both sides of the roads from S.R. Nagar to Punjagutta has been
sanctioned at a cost of Rs.98 lakh.
Later, the
Commissioner also visited Begum Bazar, Afzal Gunj, Charminar, Lad Bazar,
Hussaini Alam, Karwan, Langar House, Golkonda, Shaikpet, Tolichowki,
Mehidipatnam etc., a release said.
