Promotions denied and leaves refused, they allege
Simmering differences between the staff and Commissioner
of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) came to fore with
a section of employees resorting to non-cooperation and demanding the
former’s transfer here on Wednesday.
Employees mistreated
The
Bhagyanagar Municipal GHMC Employees Union has on Tuesday urged
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to immediately transfer Commissioner Somesh
Kumar, alleging that the employees were being mistreated and demoralised
by his threats of suspension.
Charging that
promotions were denied and leaves refused, the union in a representation
said they would continue agitation if a decision on transfer was not
taken.
“Most employees from the head office and
circle offices have joined the non-cooperation and we will intensify the
agitation,” an office-bearer of the union said on Wednesday.
Black flags
A decision was taken to ply all transport unit vehicles with black flags on Thursday.
However,
the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation officials said they were
discussing issues with the staff and hoped the situation would be
resolved amicably.
