The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Commissioner will start a joint
venture with some non-governmental organisations to run driving schools
and cab services, and to train women as security guards to provide
employment to 200 women.
Speaking at a review meeting held here on
Thursday with mayor M Majid Hussain in the chair, municipal
commissioner Somesh Kumar said the GHMC would also hold training
programmes on bank linkages, Deepam, Bangaru Talli, Abhaya Hastam, etc. A
target will be given to deputy commissioners on bank linkage to SHGs.
He
directed engineer-in-chief R Dhan Singh to prepare a tender document
for a pilot project on installation of timers in a particular area. He
directed the electrical wing officials to emboss the logo of GHMC on the
bulbs to check their illegal sale in open markets.
The mayor
asked additional commissioner (electrical) to compile the details of
contractors, package details, their performance and supply the same to
the corporators within three days.
The commissioner asked all the
zonal commissioners to sanction works under SC/ST Sub-plan (Indiramma
Kalalu) and complete the works on a priority. Additional commissioner
(planning) Ronald Rose was asked to check if collection of parking
charges in commercial complexes was being done in accordance with
rules.
Floor leaders alleged that despite sanction several works
were not grounded because of allotment of several works to a single
contractor and existence of bogus contractors. The commissioner said
bogus contractors and societies would be blacklisted after
verification.
The leaders requested the commissioner to write a
letter to the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities for handing over
Moghal Sarai, which had been given to them for construction of a railway
station.
