Morning session to deliberate on important issues
HYDERABAD: GHMC’s first general body meeting of the elected body will be held on Monday morning at the refurbished old Council in the head office with Mayor B. Kartika Chandra Reddy presiding.
A special meeting has also been called for in the afternoon at 3 p.m. to elected two co-opted members from the minority communities. A male and a female are to be chosen by nomination method with a member proposing and another seconding the particular candidature.
The morning session will have the administration replying to dozen-odd chosen questions raised by the members.
Crucial issues
Issues like the Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS), maintenance and building of new slaughter houses, allocation of division wise funds, community toilets in slums, funds from JNNURM, etc. will be taken up, according to secretary Somaraju.
Officials in the last couple of months took up internal changes in the Council after much debate and discussion so as to accommodate all the 150 corporators and ex-officio members like city MLAs, MPs and MLCs. The media gallery has been removed from the ground floor to make for more space for elected representatives. Presspersons are to be seated upstairs in the hitherto visitors gallery.
