‘Government serious about protecting water bodies’

The District In Charge and Transport Minister
Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday said the government is serious about
protecting all the water bodies in Bangalore and elsewhere.
Addressing
people after the ground breaking ceremony for the rejuvenation of
Byrasandra Lake in Siddapura ward in the City on Wednesday. The BDA is
developing the lake with an expenditure of about Rs 2.5 crore, said BDA
sources.
Reddy said the lake would be developed on par with any
other important water body in the City, which will not only attract
people but also winged guests. Speaking about the government’s plans,
Reddy said the government has decided to set up a Tank Development
Authority, which will have more powers than any other institution to
rejuvenate lakes in Bangalore and elsewhere.
