Govt preparing Master Plan of 31 cities: CM
The State Government is preparing a Master Plan of 31 cities
and towns through the Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping and
remote sensing survey.
This was revealed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the conference of
Mayors and Chairpersons of the urban local bodies of the State here on
Friday.
Patnaik said a master plan for the towns is essential for preparation
and implementation of different schemes. A Comprehensive Development
Plan is also required for town planning and to provide basic
infrastructure to people. The new technologies would help resolve the
problems like traffic snarls and scarcity of drinking water in the new
areas of the towns.
Patnaik also informed that the Government has included 41 cities under
the e-governance programme. After Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri, the
Government is also planning to introduce the City Bus service in
Baripada, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Brahmapur and Baleswar. He advised the
corporators and chairpersons of the civic bodies to give adequate
attention to resolve the problems of the poor urban residents.
