Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation for clean beaches

Visakhapatnam: GVMC
commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana said they would give priority to
cleanliness at all beaches in the city, as part of the endeavour to make
the city beautiful.
He
said they have planned round-the-clock cleaning at all beaches and that
a committee comprising senior officials, such as zonal commissioner,
superintending engineer and divisional engineer, would monitor the
activity.
Petty
vendors at the beaches have to follow dress code, he said. Dustbins
would be provided for easy disposal of waste and for maintaining hygiene
in the area. He said they had identified 150 dilapidated buildings in
the city for immediate demolition.
He
explained that nine new wards have been proposed in addition to the
existing 72 in the city. Tap connection is being provided to all the
poor families at Rs 100, he added.
GVMC employees, led by
AP non-gazetted officers association and employees unions, launched
72-hour pen-down strike on Monday demanding that the Centre should
withdraw its decision on statehood to Telangana. They handed over the
intimation on strike to the commissioner earlier.
