GVMC comes in for praise
Improving storm water drains spending crores of rupees,
removing the bottlenecks in drains and de-silting has led to heavy
inflow of water draining out of low-lying areas quickly, Municipal
Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana has said.
Earlier a
relatively less rainfall used to flooding of low-lying areas and causing
loss to properties but in spite of incessant and heavy rain for a week
such submergence was not witnessed, he said.
Several
people’s representatives have congratulated the GVMC officials for the
effort, Mr. Satyanarayana told officials in his daily interaction from
the call centre in the morning.
He congratulated
officials of all departments and employees for being on their toes and
taking steps on a war-footing during the week-long rain.
However, it should not give room for complacency and they should be ready to face any contingency, he told them.
