GVMC Standing Committee okays study tour
The Standing Committee meeting of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal
Corporation with Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao in the chair on Thursday
approved a study tour of corporators at a cost of Rs.32 lakh. The
corporators will visit Kolkata, Gangtok and Siliguri to study the
functioning of civic bodies there.
Other proposals cleared were auctioning of old garbage
bins and vehicles through Metal Scrap Trading Corporation, laying of
road from Visalakshinagar Main Road to BVK College at a cost of Rs.49.8
lakh, Bhimili Beach Road to Tarakarama Enclave (Rs.49.5 lakh) and from
the National Highway to Gitanjali Community Hall (Rs.69.9 lakh), all in
ward 6. Laying of road from New Gajuwaka to Old Police Station (Rs.49.8
lakh) and from Old Gajuwaka to Old Police Station (Rs.49.6 lakh) were
also approved.
At Nehrunagar of Ramnagar in ward 19 a proposal for
construction of community hall and GVMC offices at a cost of Rs.44 lakh
was approved. Standing Committee members P. Vijaychander and K. Vengala
Rao wanted other wards also to be given priority in development.
Other members Ch. Nagaraju, Garikina Gowri, Jiyyani
Sridhar, Banala Srinivasa Rao and B.S.S. Umamaheswara Rao and additional
commissioners S. Krishna Murthy, P. Purnachandra Rao and K. Ramesh
participated.
