GVMC to receive awards today
GVMC will receive two awards for implementation of Jawaharlal Nehru
National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) from President Pranab Mukherjee
at a function at New Delhi on Tuesday. Municipal Commissioner M. V.
Satyanarayana left for New Delhi on Monday to participate in the awards
function.
GVMC has been chosen for awards under “the best city for
basic services for urban poor” which it shares with Ahmadabad and “the
best city in implementation of three pro-poor reforms.” The State has
won the award for “the Best State for promoting community organisations.
Municipal Administration Minister M. Mahidhar Reddy, Principal
Secretary (MA&UD) and Special Officer of GVMC S. K. Joshi, Principal
Secretary (MA &UD) Samir Sharma, APUFIDC Managing Director Y.
Madhusudhan Reddy and GVMC Chief Engineer B. Jayarami Reddy are among
those who will receive the awards from the President.
