Hassan CMC to see three Presidents in 2nd term

Rumours are rife that the Janata Dal (Secular) members who had elected three presidents for Hassan City Municipal Council in the first term of two and a half years, has decided to repeat the same by making three more as presidents for the remaining term.
There is demand to increase the term from the current period to five years as the members feel that they cannot achieve much during the short term. But the leaders, to keep everybody happy has made three presidents in two and a half years, which is showing its impact on the city’s development.
Just one day before the election, Vice-president C R Shankar was a strong contender for the president’s post. Though he has served as vice-president for two terms, he did not enjoy any power.
He felt that there is little chance to serve people and earn good in that post. Hence, Shankar was hell bent that he should be made president. But, the party boses made Rangaswamy as the new chief of CMC. This has caused heart burn for many members and opined that he was made because of his proximity with MLA.
Addressing news conference, Shankar alleged of several behind the screen acts play role during the election of president. He had openly expressed his objection and displeasure in the party meeting. Shankar, who is involved in social work for the last somany years, enjoys support in the CMC. Keeping this in mind, the party decided to give him an opportunity for the second term. Hence, he may be selected as president along with Rangaswamy and others with each candidate sharing the posts for 10 months each, according to sources. In all, Hassan CMC, which should see two presidents during the five year term, is all set to see six presidents in the remaining term.
