Hazaribag DC forms cell for civic poll
notification issued by the State Election Commission for holding civic
polls in 32 wards on April 7, the district election officer-cum-deputy
commissioner on Monday formed several cells for the smooth conduct of
the election.
The additional collector of the district was
given the charge of the personnel cell. Similarly, cells for
distribution of election materials and transport were also formed. SDO
Hazaribag Sadar Ravi Ranjan was made the in charge of law and order, DDC
Hazaribag Debar Joko was made the overall in charge and also of the
EVMs. The DC said 448 EVMs would be required for elections in the 224
polling stations. Besides, 10% EVM will be kept in reserve. in all the
polling station so that it can be used in case of emergency.
“The nomination papers can be filed in four places for which wardwise
centres have been earmarked. Altogether 1,00,254 voters will exercise
their franchise to elect one chairman and 32 commissioners.”
This time also the municipality chairman’s post has been reserved for woman.
However, Anjali Kumari who was elected chairman of the Hazaribag
Municipality by the majority of the 32 ward commissioners of Hazaribag
Municipality in an no confidence motion for alleged charges of
corruption and failure to take up the developmental work of the
municipality. Instead they expressed their faith to Manish Jaiswal who
was directly elected as the Vice-Chairman of the Hazaribag Municipality
and elected as the acting Chairman of the Hazaribag Municipality.
Since this time only the elected Ward Commissioner are eligible for
electing Vice- Chairman the out going acting Chairman of Hazaribag
Municipality Manish Jaiswal announced that he will not contest the
forthcoming Civic elections as he is an strong candidate of the JVM(P)
from one of the Constituency for the next election from the Jharkhand Assembly scheduled to take plece next or before and started his preparation for the same.
