HC asks civic body not to dump rubble in tank
HYDERABAD: A division bench of the AP High Court in a recent order issued a series of directions to the authorities to ensure against any further dumping rubble into Durgam Cheruvu in the city.
The bench comprising Justice A Gopal Reddy and Justice KC Bhanu issued directions to the GHMC /HUDA, the Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and the Water and Sewerage Board authorities to visit the depleting tank after serving a notice to the counsel for the petitioner and submit a report including the FTL (full tank level) as assessed by the irrigation department in 2000 and the present level.
The steps taken to stop dumping of building waste into the tank is also required to be submitted by the authorities. The bench, speaking through Justice Gopal Reddy, also directed the creation of an outpost of Cyberabad police to prevent lorries taking any building waste into the area. In three weeks the civic authorities will also be required to give a detailed report on the steps taken thus far and steps for the future to stall such dumping of waste in the lake. The bench noticed that the chief secretary had in March 2009 sought three months time to submit a comprehensive report and that the report was yet to be filed. The bench also took note of the list of over 84 occupants of various parts of the lake and directed that they be impleaded as parties to the petition.
Bail plea of Ramalinga Raju posted to August 12:
Justice Raja Elango of the High Court on Thursday adjourned the bail petition filed by Satyam scam accused Ramalinga Raju to August 12. The judge granted the adjournment at the request of the counsel of CBI who informed the court that the case of the said day would be represented by the solicitor general.
