HC: digitise records of land, buildings of local bodies
The Karnataka High Court on Friday directed the State
government to preserve the documents related to the land and buildings
to all local bodies and digitise them through scanning and indexing on
the lines of revenue records.
Justice Huluvadi G.
Ramesh issued the direction in this regard to V. Ponnuraj, Commissioner
for Survey Settlement, to initiate necessary action after placing the
matter before the State government.
The court said
that that maintenance of comprehensive records, and rebuilding of
records that were destroyed due to fire or mischief of the personnel or
the department, would help the authorities to take timely action for
augmenting the income of the respective local bodies by putting these
properties for better use.
Yogeshwar’s cases
The
High Court on Friday transferred four of the five criminal cases of
forgery, cheating, etc., against the former Forest Minister C.P.
Yogeshwar related to the dealings of his company Megacity (Bangalore)
Developers and Builders Ltd. (MDBL) to a single court as these cases
were fragmented in two courts. Now all cases registered under different
sections of the Indian Penal Code would be transferred to the 1st
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court from the 4th ACMM
court.
