HC suspends orders on merger of 17 gram panchayats with GHMC
The panchayats were proposed to be merged with the GHMC
Justice Ramesh Ranganathan of the High Court on Thursday
suspended the orders regarding cancellation of 17 gram panchayats
around Hyderabad city, which are sought to be merged into the Greater
Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Rule prescribes that the notification of panchayats has to be cancelled before merging the areas into the corporation.
Several
writ petitions were filed complaining that the rules like giving prior
notice to the gram panchayat and proper consultation were violated. The
Judge called for records and suspended the orders of the government in
this regard.
These villages are spread in
Rajendranagar, Shameerpet, Qutbullapur, Ghatkesar, Keesara, and Medchal
mandals of Ranga Reddy district.
These include
Gandipet, Manchirevula, Jawaharnagar, Shamshabad, Pragatinagar,
Bachupally, Kompally, Dulapally, Boduppal, Medicherla, Chengicherla,
Nagaram, Dammaiguda, and Gundlapochampally.
