Hefty fine on the cards for owners of stray cattle
Thirty-seven heads of stray cattle in Vellore which were
impounded and entrusted to Jain Ghosala here would be handed over
permanently to the Ghosala for maintenance on November 1 if owners did
not pay the fine and take back their animals before October 31,
according to the Commissioner of the Vellore Corporation.
In
a release, he said the Corporation would levy a fine of Rs.10,000 on
the owners of stray cattle caught from November 1 onwards in view of the
continuation of stray cattle menace despite fine levied on the owners
depending on whether the cattle were caught for the first, second or
third time.
The Corporation levied a fine of Rs.1,000
on the owner of a stray cow or bull which was caught for the first
time, Rs.5,000 during the second time and Rs.10,000 the third time.
