HMDA offers eco-friendly Ganeshas

Clay idols to be made available at 51 locations across the city |
HYDERABAD: As part of its endeavour towards protection of lakes in and around the city, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is setting up a network for distribution of clay idols this Vinayaka Chaturthi festival.
The HMDA has supported SAVE, a voluntary group, for preparation of 50,000 small idols of eight inches and 500 big idols of 4.50 feet eco-friendly Ganesh idols and the same will be made available across the city through different centres.
The distribution work of these clay idols is to be taken with the support of NGOs in 51 locations . According to the officials, several volunteers and students from JNTU and other colleges have come forward to join the effort.
The smaller idols are priced at Rs.10 each while the bigger ones are offered at Rs.1,000 each at the distribution centres that will be open from September 9 to 11.
Distribution network
The distribution network will have the voluntary group CARE (Ph.9440717081 and 9573326249) at Langar Houz Market, Uppal Bus Stand, Nacharam Chowrastha Road, Khairatabad Market, Saraswathi Vidya Mandir at Mahabharath Nagar while another voluntary organisation CEE (Ph.9440409505 and 9160112777) taking care of the distribution at NTR Gardens, Sanjeevaiah Park, KBR Park and Hitec City.
Sukuki Exnora (Ph.9849047827 and 66667333) will cover Saroornagar lake, Hasmathpet, Peddacheruvu, B.S.Maktha Community Hall, Kundanbagh entrance, Chinmaya Vidyalaya premises, St.Francis Degree College, G.Pulla Reddy at Begumpet, Pochamma Temple at Mathajinagar and Methodist Colony Dhanalaxmi Stores. Chatri (Ph.9291495912) will have distribution at NBT Nagar Community Hall and Chadarghat Bridge while APSA (Ph.9948780015) covers Bhagat Singh Nagar, Venkateswara Colony, Ambedkarnagar, Bairamulguda, Karmanghat, Srinivasanagar, Anandabagh, Bharatnagar, Nehrunagar, Moulali, Sainikpuri, A.S. Raonagar, Ramakrishna Puram, Neredmet, ECIL, Ambedkarnagar, Vengalaraonagar, Nallagutta, Gachibowli, Sindhi Colony and Padmaraonagar.
Similarly, Seva Bharath (Ph.95534599010 and 9491635449) will have distribution covering Mysamma Cheruvu at Yellammabanda while Sri Vidyanjali School (Ph. 9440620945) will have distribution at I.D.L.Cheruvu. The other areas are to be covered by Deloitte (Himabindu, Ph.9949650399) at Tammidi Kunta, P.G. students from Department of Environment joining the network at their college JNTU, Kukatpally, Jayaho Barateeyam (Ph.994961359) at Exhibition Grounds, Sri Sai Sarva Seva Charitable Trust, (Ph.27115369 and 9885911947) at Sainikipuri and K.Bhavani, Monarch Ergo (Ph.9160504796) covering schools in Sainikipuri.
