HMDA to demarcate lakes

HYDERABAD: In an effort to protect lakes from encroachment, Hyderabad
Metropolitan Development Authority’s (HMDA) Lake Protection Committee
has decided to demarcate the Full Tank Levels of the 169 lakes in GHMC
limits and 501 lakes in HMDA.
The demarcation would be taken up along with survey numbers for
taking necessary action in removing encroachments. Besides, the
committee also decided to develop and update the memoirs of the lakes
while preparation of the lake maps with latitude and longitude of the
FTL boundaries in a bid to incorporate in the revenue records.
The decision to this effect was taken during the 3 {+r} {+d} meeting
of the Lake Committee held on Saturday at HMDA office, Tarnaka. HMDA
Metropolitan Commissioner Rajeeshwar Tiwari, GHMC Commissioner Sameer
Sharma and others participated in the meeting.
GHMC has agreed to take up the demarcation of FTL of 169 lakes
through the SE and the GHMC Commissioner Sameer Sharma informed that
demarcation of nalas woud also be taken up simultaneously, said a press
release.
