Honorarium of local body members hiked
Amount to be raised by Rs.1,000.
The government has decided to increase the honorarium of
elected representatives of local bodies by Rs.1,000, Finance Minister
K.M. Mani said in his budget speech. The government has also decided to
allocate Rs.4,000 crore to the local bodies during the coming financial
year, which is 23.9 per cent more than the allocation made during the
current fiscal.
Local bodies would be provided a sum
of Rs.5.5 crore to improve the conditions of slaughter houses in
villages. To improve the functioning of village panchayats, ten
panchayats from each of the districts would be selected for getting ISO
certification, he said. The Erattupetta panchayat would be upgraded to
the level of municipality.
