Hudco loans to local bodies to build urban extensions
have failed to plan extensions of cities, can now easily get funds to
further their efforts to de-congest cities. The Housing and Urban
Development Corporation (Hudco), a public sector company, has come up
with a scheme of providing soft loans for ULBs for building urban
extensions.
Hudco will also provide consultancy services to ULBs, which
want to build urban extensions of their cities. The scheme has been
christened as Hudco Nav Nagar Yojana. “It’s an integrated solution from
planning to financing for new township and layout development. The
period of loan will be between 15 and 20 years and the rate of interest
would also be nominal,” Hudco CMD VP Baligar said.
Rlys’ freight loading sees jump in Q1
New Delhi, July 9: Indian Railways’ freight loading, which has
been below targets in the last two years, has seen a jump in the first
quarter of this fiscal. In the first quarter of 2013, the railways
carried 256.79 million tonne of revenue-earning freight traffic. The
freight carried shows an increase of 11.98 million tonne over the
freight traffic of 244.81 million tonne in the corresponding period last
 year, an increase of 4.89%.
During the month of June, the revenue-earning freight traffic
carried by the railways was 84.95 million tonne. The main reasons behind
the jump are the 5% increase in freight charges and the hike in
passenger tariff implemented in January. The railways hopes to end
2013-14 with balance of Rs 12,506 crore.
