Good news for property dealers in Gurgaon as GMC goes online

Staff Reporter | New Delhi

With Gurgaon becoming one of the most sought after city for investment in property, the Gurgoan Municipal Corporation (GMC) will go online for the sale and purchase of properties.

The Municipal Corporation Gurgaon will provide 10 facilities, including seeking no objection certificate (NOC) about sale and purchase of immovable property online from coming Friday onwards. Then it will become much easier for property buyers and sellers to obtain NOC from the MCG, as they will get it online.

The people will have the option of applying online while sitting at their home through Nigam’s website.

This would reduce workload in the MCG office and the people will also face little hardship in obtaining the no objection certificate.

Municipal Commissioner of Gurgaon, RK Khullar said that the property buyers and sellers would be able to check the status of their application about NOC of sale and purchase of immovable property through online.

He further said that online application could also be moved for marriage registration, house tax, registration of mobile towers, licence for commercial establishments; birth and death registration and for approval of building plan.

Khullar added that apart from this facility, people would also be able to get information about activities of the MCG under Right to Information Act 2005 online. Besides, any complaint in connection with the MCG could also be registered online and status of the action taken on such complaints could also be seen online.

Khullar said that from Friday onwards, proposals and suggestions regarding House tax and ‘logo’ could also be sent online.

However on the other hand the property dealers have different views.

“This is a good step to modernise the service but the question remains that how they are going to maintain it. The Government agencies are having a bad record of maintaining their sites. Look at the HUDA sites, which is hardly updated,” said Sanjay Grover a property dealer in Gurgaon.

“It is difficult to go for sale and purchase of the property online. However, it will be interesting to see that how it is going to increase the efficiency of the GMC. In practical terms, I don’t think it will be successful in Gurgaon,” Grover added.

Some property delers have, however, appreciated the move of the MCG of going online. “This can be a transforming step. People will get the information just at the click of a mouse sitting at their home without coming to GMC office. I think GMC is inspired by the the Delhi Municipal Corporation which began such facilities for general public long time back,” said Suresh Sharma, a Gurgaon-based property dealer.
