GIS helped BBMP collect Rs 800 crore

BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Monday presented its Action Taken Report for 2009-10, which highlights the projects, schemes and their status in the period.

With the use of Geographical Information System (GIS), the Palike has so far managed to collect Rs 800 crores, as stated by the report and Mayor S K Natraj. Seven signal-free corridors would also be constructed under the capital investment plan. Last year’s achievement also includes 11 pedestrian subways, road-widening that has been completed on many roads and storm water drains among others.

An MoU has been signed for Bangalore-San Francisco sister city concern to exchange technical and infrastructural know-how. Also, e-procurement, online khata, birth and death certificates, bio-metric attendance, online tax collections, GPS in garbage trucks were some of the actions taken during the previous fiscal.
