All civic bodies to be linked through Net by March 31

ONGOLE: Municipal Administration Minister M Mahidhar Reddy on Tuesday announced interlinking of urban civic bodies in the state through internet by March 31.

Talking to reporters after taking part in various programmes in Kandukur, his home constituency, the Minister said all municipal corporations and municipalities would be given a grading based on their performance in implementing the citizens charter.

The citizens charter outlines the time to be taken by the civic bodies for providing various services to the citizens, including registration of births and deaths.

He promised to make appointments in various civic bodies to remove municipal staff shortage.

He also assured people of Kandukur to provide drinking water before coming March and strive for its development as a model municipality.

Tenders had been finalised for changing of gates for the Ralapadu project.

Taking part in the emergency meet ingof the Kandukur municipality, he announced Rs. 2 crore for upgrading all roads in the town into cement roads.

He ordered a survey by officials to study the reasons for fall in collection of trading licence fee.

Special budgetary allocation would be made for improving civic infrastructure in 84 urban civic bodies, he said.

He urged officials to issue press statements informing the public about unauthorised layouts and also cut power and water supply to such layouts to curb their mushrooming which resulted in haphazard growth of the town.
