To tackle encroachments, NMC to upload sanctioned maps on its website

NAGPUR: With rampant violation of sanctioned plans, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to upload the sanctioned plans (maps) of buildings and complexes on its website.

Confirming the development, municipal commissioner Shyam Wardhane told TOI that the decision will help the civic body identify violations of the approved plans for any construction in areas controlled by the NMC. "Besides this, we have also appointed a two member committee comprising assistant municipal commissioner and sub-divisional officer in every zone (10 zones) to furnish details of illegal constructions and also about illegal constructions on government lands every week," he said. These reports will also help the anti-encroachment squad to take action against the violators, said Wardhane.

Meanwhile, the anti-encroachment squads of Ashi Nagar zone, Dharampeth zone and Nehru Nagar zone razed illegal constructions in their respective zones.

The Dharampeth zone squad led by subdivisional officer A S Pillai carried out the drive in prime and busy locations like railway station road, Shrimohini Complex, LIC square, Aakashwani square and from the roads in front of district collectorate.

Similarly, Nehru Nagar zone's squad took action against two residents for illegal constructions. Under the zone of Ashi Nagar, anti-encroachment drive was carried out in busy Indora square, Kamal Chowk and Jaripatka, from where they removed 22 illegal hoardings.
