No queue for professional tax now

RAJKOT: Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has started an online payment system to pay professional tax on Tuesday. Professional tax payers do not have to go personally to civic centres to pay their tax now.

"They can pay their taxes online using their debit and credit cards and within a week, we will start the net banking facility as well for the professional tax payment," said a RMC official.

Professional tax payers had to go to civic centres of RMC before but with this facility, they will save their time and energy by paying tax online.

According to RMC officials, on an average, RMC collects Rs 12 crore as professional tax every year and there are around 77,000 professional tax payers in the city. RMC has already received a very good response for its multiple payment option facility from property tax payers.

"This year, we got a great response from tax payers who prefer online payment options. As many as 4 percent of the tax payers have paid their property tax online and we are hopeful that more and more people will prefer this system in the coming days,'' said Mahesh Gohel, manager, IT department, RMC.
