PCMC to post details of properties on website

PUNE: Citizens and prospective property buyers in Pimpri-Chinchwad will now be able to check details of all authorised properties, by which they would be able to avoid any possible financial losses. The details of the authorised properties and plots reserved in the development plan will be posted on the official website of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).Municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi on Friday said people, who have migrated from various parts of the country, now reside in the city and are purchasing houses.

"The common man is mostly unaware of the legalities of investing in real estate. As a result, if a person buys the property and if it turns out to be an unauthorised construction, the person stands to face loss. The PCMC is, therefore, preparing a list of authorised constructions which have been built in the city till now, and also those that are in construction stages," he said. The details will also be made available at citizen facilitation centres. The PCMC is also preparing a list of builders and developers who have constructed buildings without permission.

"We will not give building permission to such developers, builders and architects in the city in future to prevent the mushrooming of unauthorised constructions," Pardeshi said. The civic administration, he said, is also preparing a list of old unauthorised constructions which have minor violations of Development Control (DC) rules and can be regularised by paying some administrative charges. This information will be made public in a month. As a result, many unauthorised constructions in the city can be regularised and the common man will get some relief.

‘Provide CCTV cameras through MLA funds’

NASHIK: MNS MLA Vasant Gite has proposed that closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) be installed in public places in the city with the help of the development fund at the disposal of MLAs.

Keeping the recent blasts in Pune in mind, MLA Vasant Gite said that CCTV cameras be installed in sensitive areas of the city through MLA funds. "The decision to permit installation of CCTV cameras through MLA funds had been taken at the ministerial level in the legislative council around six months back. I have given a proposal in this regard to the police commissioner on Wednesday," said Gite. "I have asked the police to conduct a survey in the city and identify the sensitive areas or those that are vulnerable to attacks and have asked them to gauge the number of CCTV cameras required for the same. The amount would depend upon the number of cameras to be installed. We have also asked them to maintain the cameras. These cameras should be functioning 24 hours a day and the recording should also be done on a daily basis," said Gite.

He further said that the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has also put up a proposal for CCTV cameras. "But we cannot depend on the NMC for it because it would take some time for approval. So, we decided to do it through the funds of the MLAs. I have proposed that funds from all the MLAs of Nashik be utilized for the same. Funds from all the three MNS MLAs would be utilized. I have already spoken to MLA Hemant Takle and he has agreed to it," said the MLA.

He said that places like banks, malls, community halls, government offices, important city squares, business houses and various institutions needed CCTVs cameras for security. "The proposal would take a month to get approved and another month-and-a-half for installation. I have appealed to all the MLAs to make this proposal," said Gite.

PMC sets Sep 7 deadline for CCTVs at key spots

The civic body on Tuesday decided to make CCTVs mandatory at all public places in the city by September 7.

Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Phatak said that orders have to be adhered to by all shopping malls, cinema halls, commercial buildings, shops, company offices, auditoriums, markets, religious structures, hotels, important tourist attractions, exclusive business buildings and historical buildings.

According to the directions, the owners of these buildings have to install CCTVs that will have recordings of at least a month. The commissioner has also directed the owners to submit report to ward officers regarding the installation of the CCTVs.

The civic body had recently given approval to the Development Control (DC) rule amendment which makes the installation of CCTV cameras at public places mandatory. The amendment also seeks to bring about changes in commercial structures to improve fire safety and security on premises.

The standing committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) approved funds of Rs 7.5 crore for installation of CCTV cameras in the city on Tuesday. The Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday had announced funds of Rs 30 crore for installing CCTVs in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchawad to strengthen security.
