Mysore City Corporation to focus on green glory for Dasara

MYSORE: It is that time of the year again when the Mysore City Corporation begins its beautifying projects. With Dasara fast approaching, the civic body is all set to enhance the green glory of the city. As more than 10 lakh visitors hit the tourist hub during the festival season, the MCC has selected certain parks, circles and roads to beautify.

Ornamental flowers and plants will be grown in major parks like Bannimantapa Park, Thataiah Park, Taluk office Road Park, Milad Bagh, Tilaknagara Park, Puthali Park, parks towards the east and west of Palace, Dr Rajkumar Park, Nishat Bagh (Kuppanna Park), Gandhivana Park, Cheluvamba Park, Javaregowda Park and Ananthaswamy Park.

MCC commissioner P G Ramesh said all the 175 parks would be beautified by renovating, painting, cleaning regularly and growing plants. Depending on the space of each park, they will grow the plants, he said. "We are implementing the same steps we took last year to beautify parks. The parks are maintained by the horticulture department and all the parks will be illuminated during Dasara festival," he stated.

Parks will be illuminated temporarily like the major circles across city like Ekalavya Circle, Babu Jagjivan Ram Circle (Railway station circle), Fountain Circle, N Madhav Rao Circle (Agrahara circle), he stated.

There are even plans to purchase short-term ornamental plants for growing them at Milad Bagh, Tilaknagar Park, Nehru Park, Puthali Park, Veeranagere Park and Anantaswamy Park, he added.
