Projects of local bodies approved

KANNUR: The District Planning Committee (DPC) that met here on Tuesday sanctioned annual projects of 48 more local bodies for the year 2009-10. A press release here on Tuesday said that the local bodies included 42 grama panchayats, four block panchayats and two municipalities.
With this, the number of local bodies whose annual projects had been sanctioned rose to 70. The release said that 16 grama panchayats were yet to submit their projects for DPC approval. All panchayats in Payyannur, Irikkur, Koothuparamba and Peravur block panchayats had their annual projects approved, it said.
DPC chairman and district panchayat president K.K. Narayanan chaired the meeting. District Planning Officer P.V. Elsy was also present.
