Kadapa civic body’s nod for Rs. 1,117 cr. budget

’Will fulfil pre-poll promises regarding basic amenities and develop Kadapa’


KADAPA: Kadapa Municipal Corporation approved Rs. 1,117.77 cr. budget for 2010-11 at its general body meeting on Monday.

Problems abounded in Kadapa city but funds available with the corporation were insufficient, Kadapa Mayor P. Raveendranath Reddy said. However, he was committed to fulfil the pre-poll promises to provide all basic amenities and develop Kadapa, the Mayor said. He urged officials to ensure timely completion of ongoing works.

Telugu Desam Party floor leader V.S. Ameer Babu said people faced hardships owing to drinking water and incomplete underground drainage and urged the Mayor to take up developmental works in panchayats that were merged with the corporation. Municipal corporators Kareem Jilani, Jamal Valli and Rahmathullah Khan also complained of water problem in their municipal divisions. They also sought expeditious completion of the bridge across Buggavanka in Ravindranagar.

The corporation was striving to ensure 24-hour power supply in Kadapa and was striving to secure Central grants, Mr. Reddy. Proposals worth Rs. 400 crore have been forwarded for infrastructural development in notified and non-notified slum areas, under Rajiv Awas Yojana which would be in force for five years. Deputy Mayor K. Nabi Rasool, Municipal Commissioner Samson, municipal SE Uma Maheswara Raoparticipated.
