Rs. 2.5-crore surplus CMC budget presented

Chamarajanagar: Chamarajanagar City Municipal Council president C.S. Mahadevanayaka on Wednesday presented a Rs. 2.5-crore surplus budget for 2010-11. The income estimated is Rs. 26.38 crore and the expenditure Rs. 23.88 crore.

During the year, the CMC proposes to raise Rs. 14.54 crore through water tax, property tax, rent from its buildings, license fee, betterment fee and debris fee etc. A revenue of Rs. 12.5 lakh is expected as rent from the council's shopping complexes.

The budget allocation for various sectors are: Rs. 25 lakh for maintenance of streetlights and repair; Rs. 48 lakh for drinking water maintenance and repair; Rs. 20 lakh for purchase of computers; Rs. 20 lakh for construction of public toilets; Rs. 15 lakh for purchase of high-mast lights; Rs. 2 crore for constructing underground drainage system; Rs. 5.4 crore for building roads; Rs. 5 lakh for maintenance of buildings and repair; Rs. 40 lakh for repair to roads and drainage.

CMC Commissioner Prakash and councillors were present.
