VMC to take final call on construction of sports complexes

Vadodara: The dream project of constructing two stadiums (indoor and outdoor) for city’s sports fraternity has taken a firm shape now as the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is planning to take up the issue in the coming standing committee meeting on Thursday.

Sources said officials may finalise the construction company which will take up the project. The proposal for the same has been moved on Monday in which companies have been shortlisted and the final decision will be taken on Thursday.

While the indoor stadium will be constructed under Town Planning Scheme number 11 (final plot 358), the outdoor stadium will be taking shape in Town Planning Scheme number 19 (final plot 353) in Manjalpur.

The lowest bid for the Indoor Sports complex has come from M V Omni Project (India) Ltd.

The company has quoted Rs 34,16,54,986, which is 7.98 per cent above the estimated cost of the project.

Similarly, P C Snehal Construction Company has quoted Rs 24,78,40,286 to construct the outdoor sports complex in Manjalpur, which is 11.92 per cent above the estimated cost.

The indoor stadium will have facilities like basket ball court, swimming pool, gymnasium, Astroturf, while the outdoor sports complex will have facilities for the games like shooting, athletics Astroturf, tennis court, rifle club, hockey, football, kho-kho.
