Recognition for GHMC mobile governance

HYDERABAD: GHMC's Mobile Governance Project, where citizens' feedback is obtained through phones and public service delivery, has received certificate of recognition at ‘m billion award South Asia 2010' held in New Delhi.

Peter Bruck, Chairman of the awards committee handed over the certificate on Friday night.

Eight South Asian countries participated in the exhibition and 53 of the 170 nominations were shortlisted. 26 of the entries received certificates of recognition.

IT Secretary R. Chandrashekhar inaugurated the exhibition and appreciated GHMC's initiative.

30 percent contribution

The Municipal Corporation has also come out with a project of taking up works in any colony provided 30 per cent contribution is made.

Rest of the 70 per cent will be borne by the civic body. Three colonies in L.B. Nagar have already been chosen for the works, officials said.

Encroachments

Meanwhile, more than 1,200 roadside encroachments causing problems to pedestrians and vehicles were demolished during the special drive that begun on Saturday. Encroachments like ramps, makeshift huts, buntings, parked vehicles, hoardings, etc., were removed at Khairatabad junction to Erragadda, Kukatpally ‘Y' junction to JNTU, Dilsukhnagar to L.B Nagar junction, Chaderghat Bridge to Dilsukhnagar, Tarnaka to Mettuguda junction and Banda Cheruvu at Malkajgiri.
