OSR land recovered from Guindy IT parks
CHENNAI: The Chennai Corporation recovered about 23 grounds of Open Space Reserve (OSR), from two IT parks in Guindy worth Rs 50 crore, on Wednesday as part of its on-going drive.A team of officials led by the Corporation Mayor M Subramanian recovered about 15.32 grounds of OSR land from Olympia Technology Park and about 7.57 grounds from Tamarai Tech Park. After marking the boundaries of OSR lands Subramanian told reporters, “Both the OSR lands would be developed as recreational parks and opened for public use soon.” The Corporation had set a deadline of onemonth to recover about 700 grounds of OSR lands in 98 different places.
Both the IT parks were enjoying these OSR lands for the past several months and the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority gave its necessary nod to recover these lands just a day ago, Subramanian said. In the past four years, the civic body has recovered OSR lands worth over Rs 3,000 crore, he added.
The civic body’s drive to recover such OSR lands from the remaining 97 places in the city is expected to gain a momentum in the coming days.
