Bhopal Mayor reviews status of construction projects

Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur inspected on Monday the under-construction reservoir for collecting the Narmada water in Bhopal and work for the BRTS route from Ahmedpur to Misrod with Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manish Singh.

Gaur and Singh reached the under-construction 2,920 kilolitre-capacity reservoir and pumphouse at Ahmedpur and reviewed the progress of the ongoing construction.

They asked officials about the difficulties being faced by them and viewed the various maps of the project. Gaur instructed them to strive for the speedy completion of the work.

This pumphouse would get 45 MLD water from the Khatlapura water purification plant, of which 140 MLD water would be pumped to the Vidhan Sabha sump tank. Modern computerised monitoring system would also be installed at this pumphouse to monitor the complete process of bringing water from Narmada to Bhopal.

Gaur also inspected the ongoing work of the BRTS corridor from Ahmedpur to Misrod and directed the officials to complete it within the stipulated timeframe.

She said the work should adhere to quality standards and warned that erring contractors would be penalised. Notably, work for the `237.76 crore BRTS corridor from Bairagarh to Misrod is being carried out under the JNNURM project.

Meanwhile, continuing its drive against encroachments obstructing the BRTS route, the BM C on Monday removed the boundary wall of the Arabian Garden at busy Polytechnic Square, as it was causing problems in widening of the BRTS route and Gandhi Bhawan road.

The BMC also removed other encroachments obstructing the work at Polytechnic Square and in market areas.
